Ancient Incas
The Inca Empire (Tawantinsuyu, in Quechua) existed in South America, covering parts of modern-day Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile and Argentina, with its capital in the modern-day city of Cuzco, Peru. It lasted from about 1200 until the death of the last emperor at the hands of the Spanish Conquistadores in 1533. The Sun Temple in Cuzco is the best known of the Inca temples.
