Executive Branch Learning Topics:

Article II of the Constitution establishes the Executive branch of Government. The office of President was established in 1789 The President is both the head of government and head of state, and commander-in-chief. The president directs the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces.

The office of president of the United States is one of the most powerful offices of its kind in the world. The president, the Constitution says, must "take care that the laws be faithfully executed." Within the executive branch itself, the president has broad powers to manage national affairs and the workings of the federal government. The power includes execution of federal law, alongside the responsibility of appointing federal executive, diplomatic, regulatory and judicial officers, and concluding treaties with foreign powers with the advice and consent of the Senate.
